I had enormous respect for Colin Hart. There were only 2 good boxing journalists in all British media, Colin & Hugh McIlvanney. McIlvanney was a fantastically talented writer (his brother William was a great author). Colin wasn't anything like as good at writing but he knew more about boxing than Hugh or, TBH, almost anyone else alive. When Ali fought George in Zaire every British journalist filed their copy the day before saying that, sadly, this was going to be the end of Ali. The exception was Colin who filed an article saying that he really thought Ali would win. After the fight, needless to say, all the journalists filed their articles then got absolutely hammered. Next day they were sitting around the hotel pool recuperating when Colin appeared. Blinded by sunlight & monstrously hungover he staggered forward & fell into the pool. McIlvanney immediately said 'alright Colin, you got it right, doesnae mean you can walk on water!'.
I also remember Colin was the only boxing writer who tipped SRL to beat Hagler. He really understood boxing.

Sorry, there was one other journalist who did KSAB. Jonathan Rendall. He acted like he wasn't sure if he wanted to be Hugh McIlvanney 2 or wanted to be Colin Hart 2. He ended up being Jeffrey Bernard 2.
