    Canelo vs Paul Williams

hey folks, i remember canelo was scheduled to fight paul williams and i also remember at the time a lot of people thinking this was a "risky" fight or a "big" fight for canelo. can someone explain why to me? i was in a coma in 2012 or something but from what i recollect, paul williams had just been brutally ko'd by martinez, then beaten to a pulp by lara in one of the worst robberies ive ever seen. canelo then signs to fight him...what a great fight?

wat...was this just because canelo supporters were high on their own farts and thought anyone canelo fought was good? williams was shot to pieces and not even ranked. classic cherry pick over a guy with a name but who could no longer compete at the highest level. then again maybe it was just low standards because canelo had been fighting unranked welterweights for so long.

unfortunately williams had an accident and became paralzyed(im sure canelo still wanted to fight him after being paralyzed) so the fight never happened. what do you think about this fight? was it a cherry pick or am i in full hater mode?

they are contemporary examples of fighters who i find fraudulent. of course i will bring them up when i see fit. i didnt bring them up here because i just remembered canelo vs paul williams was a fight canelo tried to make when he was in his primordial stage.

It was a risky fight for Canelo because he was largely unproven at the time. Paul would have been the most high profile fighter of the highest repute he would have fought if the fight happened and no Mosley doesn't count because he was way way past it in 2012-2013.

He had 1 bad ko loss against a guy he fought a close back and forth fight with previously getting questionable win, a robbery win against Lara, and he won a dull but wide decision against Ishida leading up to the Canelo fight before the accident. We don't know how much he had left and never will, it would have been a fine test for Canelo at the time.

all the evidence you just provided kinda points to him not having much left though doesn't it? of course you can never be 100% sure like wilder could come back and do something its possible but not very likely. williams looked bad in every fight after that martinez first fight which was a hellacious beating that he really should have lost, even the cintron fight he looked way off before cintron jumped out of the ring in classic kermit fashion and he probably should have lost that one with kermit landing the much harder cleaner punches but then again kermit did jump out of the ring to try and steal a win so im not too displeased. 4 fights in a row looking horrible to mediocre and canelo said the cherry is ready...benavidez you know how to get the canelo fight...
