Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford: Master of inactivity
Although conventional thought says boxers should fight frequently to remain sharp, Terence Crawford has stayed at the top of his game fighting no more than once a year.

I'm not really crazy about this fight for Bud or Canelo, but they have both earned the right to call their shots. I would have rather seen Bud scalp Jermell, but the Charlo Sisters both went missing. People don't realize that Jermall has never lost.
he got froze out by Al Haymon from fighting the big name american fighters for about 6-7 years..
he became undisputed at 135 and 140.
he took on high ranked fighters like Kavaliauskas with little reward (high in ranking, low in tv recognition)
he left his promoter to give al haymon a bigger share so he could fight Porter and Spence.
He smashed Spence, one could analyse it as a reaction to how he got frozen out.
He wanted the Fundora fight for the title.. haymon had that locked down till Spence pulled out..
he took on a natural 154 pounder in Madrimov instead. I think Crawford is worse for wear after that. its too much power.
Canelo didn't want to fight him, so he's taken a concession in weight to fight at 168lbs just to get the fight made.
He is at the point where he wants to get a big payday to be done! he's absolutely earned that by taking the hard road and proving himself every time .
I think we can give him another 6 months to try put on another 15lbs of weight (which won't all be muscle)

He dint get froze out by Al Haymon. He got froze out by the promoter HE chose to sign to
Mean Machine is a b level fighter
He left Top Rank bc Bob was honest about his drawing ability
He smashed Spence after Spence was damaged goods
He never wanted Fundora for real. He never sent an offer. It was all talk
Canelo didnt want to fight him bc its pointless fight. WTF other weight could he fight Canelo at?
Bud has the weakest resume of any "p4p" fighter at the end of their career. He has 1 name that means anything on his resume
The thread the other day that talked about disappointing careers, I was tempted to list Bud Crawford, but didn't want the hassle. I'm game today though.
When Bud retires, there is no fight of his that I'll likely revisit. He should have signed with PBC when he had the chance, jumped to 154 specifically for Jermell, and fought Boots.
