He also beat Vinny Paz (23-1) in a immediate rematch after a controversial loss and Haugen also upset Hector Camacho (38-0) in a competitive bout where Hector got himself a point deducted.

Ray Mancini was coming off a streak of losses and had retired 3 years before they faced, but Haugen already had achieved pretty well for himself. Doubt it should affect his standing beating multiple champions at their best.
My Tio beat Haugen then fought JCC and got his butt kicked lol

Not sure if this is not true or this is a neat fact, is it Tony Lopez? Who beat Haugen and then lost to JCC?

I'll always remember him making the ring walk thru the dense crowd at Azteca. It was such a spectacle for me - I was still a new/young fan watching Chavez fights with my dad - of course I was rooting for Chavez, but I thought Haugen was badass-it was my first time hearing "Born in the USA", and I had no idea of the songs meaning outside of the hook, but I just remember wow he's got guts.

Many years later I started to come across him watching old fights and seeing him more extensively, much more versatile than that night in Azteca. Got to shake his hand at the mandalay bay before a Pac fight RIP

That's awesome! Tony "The Tiger" Lopez seems to had a pretty good run at super featherweight. Beating John John Molina X2, Rocky Lockridge X2, and Jorge Paez.

Then became a two division champ at 135, beating the likes of Dingaan Thobela, Gamache and Haugen. very nice scalps on his resume.

My older Tio, his brother Sal, was the better of the 2, but he got hurt in an accident that derailed his career. Both are doing good tho. Tony runs his bailbond company and Tio Sal retired after 35years as a corrections officer.
