  • Vergil on path to become the face of Boxing

No cap, Vergil fights in the best/deepest division in boxing. The 154 lbs is where a fighter can built a legacy on w/t names like Fundora, Conwell, Ramos, Zayas, Murtazaliev, Tszyu, Lubin, Tellez, Bohachuk, Madrimov, Crawford, Spence, Charlo and eventually Ennis & Ryan as well. As Vergil already shown he’ll fight anyone and now that Turki backing him, I think we’ll see many of these matches being made in the near future. Also, Vergil’s style is must see TV his aggressive come fwd style is what casuals love to see. Now that Canelo in the twilight of his career, the largest fan base in boxing Mexican/American & Mexicans will be looking for the next Throne bearer no doubt in my mind Vergil is the next man up. Oscar’s has built a face of boxing before in Canelo, I’m confident he can again w/t Vergil the kid is truly about being and fighting the best.

With his athletic ability and solid textbook fundamentals, Vergil Ortiz Jr can go far, if he is dedicated, consistent and well prepared Ortiz Jr can win against anyone at 154-160. He is a live dog in any fight, at stacked division as light Middleweight. Hope he gets to fight Fundora or Murtazaliev for a belt. Think he beats Sebastian confidently, but with the Russian he most be as well prepared, sharp and attentive as yesterday to block or slip the low output but selective punching and keeps busy against the similiarly sized opponent. Think Vergil is overall more complete fighter and has the right qualities, but Bakhram is a a tough big puncher, all it takes is one punch to turn the tables, I don't doubt he will put through Ortiz in shaky moments.

But If he ever loses at some point which can be applied to anyone at the top division, I hope it doesn't demoralizes him because it's just statistics that there is a fighter just has the right qualities and the right skillset to get the better of him. Which seems to be an issue with modern professional boxers in the states, as American boxing fans tend to dismiss even if a fighter wins in competitive fashion, unlike MMA (UFC) fans.
