Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker vs Martin Bakole: who wins and why?

When Joseph Parker was slated to face Daniel Dubois in the heavyweight co-main event to Artur Beterbiev's rematch with Dmitry Bivol, there was a clear narrative...

Great contest , nobody wants to deal with Bakole but Parker has no problem with it , just has he had no problem facing Dubious after his destcution of hapless Joshua . IF Parker is still around and has not shipped too much punishment he should win late on or points but a Bakole from a full camp would be the pick.

I commend Bakole for taking the opportunity, which he recognises is a golden one, and the money is very appealing, of course.

I could've learned from someone like him and his team when younger, to grasp any good opportunity you get in life, because it's a rare thing when you get that chance.

I had Parker a very slight favorite against the DDD, this fight I'm willing to lump on Parker to take over after 5 rounds. I've never liked big HWs carrying to much timber, I'm not sure I like Parker coming in at over 270 but if Bakole comes in more than 310 then I see only one winner. Parker to force a stoppage or the towel in by around 8 or 9 rounds. I would be amazed if Bakole has at best 6 rounds of boxing in him without a serious camp.

I had Dubois in the original fight, now I've got Parker over a dangerous but out of shape & out of camp Bakolie who's beaten nobody. I expect him to gas & fold like he did against Hunter unless he can connect in the first 3.

I really like Bakole, I think he could spark Joyce & Dubois quite easily, but he isn't fighting them. Bakole reminds me v much of the 1990s George Foreman, slow, cumbersome, overweight but possessed of fearful strength, demolition power & a cool boxing IQ that allows him to utilise those advantages. If Bakole had had a camp I think he could've used those attributes to move Parker around, wear him out & then land the one concussive shot. He has come in off the street & Parker knows that. I think Parker is going to move Martin around & tire him out while never giving him the opportunity to land anything concussive. Parker knows that after 6 rounds Martin will be 'blowing out his a$$'. Parker has a decent ring IQ himself & he has Andy Lee in his corner. He won't get hit with a huge shot. Parker by UD or possibly late stoppage.
