training and tactics.Finland KO'd Russia the first time but I admit they came back well from the loss. I don't believe the excuses about Russia being "overconfident" and "unprepared" in their first meeting, Finland simply used superior strategies and heart to overcome a big size disadvantage.
the finnish soldiers were well trained.
they were well prepared and equipped for fighting in snow and forests.Comment

Well, they weren't all that well trained and lacking in equipment but surely more prepared and determined to fight during winter than the Soviet soldiers brought from the southern parts of Russia.
Finland's army had much more experienced people leading the troops, having been through the Civil War in the early 1900's, than Soviet Union which had lost most of its high ranking officials due to Stalin "cleaning" out the ranks.
So in that way I guess they were a bit unprepared.Comment

Only during the rematch. Finland had no one's help during the Winter War with Soviets and Germany having a peace treaty (which didn't last) which meant the Soviet Union was free to occupy Finland and other surrounding countries without **** Germany's response.Originally posted by CarnivoreFinland's ally, **** Germany, supplied the Finnish forces with military equipment and advisors during the war with Russia.
Only a handful of Swedes enlisted to help Finland in the efforts to defend the country.Last edited by TheGreatA; 10-17-2009, 08:38 PM.Comment
