  • Comments Thread For: Derek Chisora plans to return to London for 50th and final fight

Heavily bruised and armed with burgers for the assembled media, Derek Chisora last night insisted that his 12-round points victory over Otto Wallin, in his 49th fight, was his penultimate outing as a prize fighter.

I hope Sky Sports, Dazn and TNT sports pay for his care when he ends up in a retirement home his technique yesterday was poor and clearly punch drunk

Whyte 3 or Miller would be fine

Ajagba and Hrgovic are also very winnable for him

The biggest mystery after last night is - how has Wallin managed to beat anyone with a pulse? Paging Gassiev…. A performance so wretched, so non existent that it made Charles Martin look like a killer

He should fight Big Baby Miller next. Otto Wallin is a soda can who had me fooled badly. I know Fury is kicking himself for struggling with that guy the way he did.

Jake Paul would be a grand finale for Chisora…

And the Wallin win over Gassiev was a split decision...some people thought Gassiev won that one.

Wallin was far more aggressive against Fury --- don't know what happened to him since then.

                    Well-said.
Entire careers have been built on mystique created from a single fight, deserved or not. Wallin is a good example but certainly not the only one in the machinations of boxing. Promoters love guys like Wallin because it gives them a consumer-credible (but very low risk) opponent for their pet contenders and title-holders to feast upon.

AJ is (or certainly was) better than the current trash-mode critics would have us believe. He might be shot (or washed, as the Brits like to say) but he was never bereft of talent or afraid to slug it out. We've seen him do it.
