This clown aint the nicest. I remember years ago when Anthony Joshua was trying to unify the heavyweight division with him this clown Parker stalled negotiations because he wanted an even 50/50 split even tho he didn’t even sell 1/4 of what Joshua sold. They told him the fans were waiting for the fight and for him to take less money since he didn’t deserve 50/50, and he didn’t care about no fans, not even his. In the end he was forced to take way less, got beat up by Aj and lost his belt lmao
We Pasifikans are generally nice people until we're not...
Parker is a great example of our cultural values like trust, loyalty, respect, strength, family, friends and mana.
He does us proud!
Well he didn’t show no loyalty to his fans years ago when he was stalling negotiations for the Anthony Joshua fight even tho the promoters told him he didn’t deserved a 50/50 split because he didn’t sell as much as AJ. If anything he showed he was money hungry. Because he was still gonna make millions regardless

That's just part of negotiating. What do purse negotiations have to do with being nice or not nice? Wouldn't you try to get the most amount of money possible if you were in that position? Compared to what you see nowadays, there was not much posturing from the Parker camp. In fact, they said from the get go that they would be willing to accept lower than half: ""The starting point is 50-50. But as a mark of respect, we would accept a bit less. But we will not accept an insult. Why should we?." The insult was 35 per cent; they were ok with 40.
This is a very good piece, it definitely gives us a deep look at what goes in the sparring ring as well as the boxer's psychology. With all the trauma they often carry, boxers are actually more complex human beings than they get credit for. I still would like to know more about Parker's ghosts; he has evidently overcome some struggles but it isn't exactly clear what those struggles are. I like Parker and hope he gives a great showing versus Dubois. I think that's a 50/50 fight, but I still see Dubois catching Parker in the later rounds and knocking him out.
I would add that a bit of editing would have helped this article be even better; there are some asides, like the reference to the Bob Dylan movie, which are unnecessary (and yes, there are plenty of geniuses that are *******s, let's stop romanticizing artists as narcissists or boxers as *******s for that matter).
A very good fighter and a decent honest person. Unusual to get any honest people in boxing today. Joseph Parker and Andy Lee make a great team. You always want the good guys to do well, unlike that fraud AJ or Wilder. It's no coincidence that both fury and Parker turned to Andy Lee to get them back from tough times. Excellent piece by the boxing scene.
