I remember feeling bad for Jorge Barrios in their matchup. He was putting in good work on Freitas and at the sound of the bell of rd.11, Freitas landed that murderous right hand straight on the head of Barrios and you could see it rattle his entire body. He went down and got up on instinct knowing it was the end of the rd. Unfortunately, it was such a brutal punch, he couldn't survive the next 3 minutes of the final rd as Freitas sensed Barrios was ready to go if he could just land 1 more. It was a war though indeed. Crowd was going nuts.

Popo was exciting and he brought great Brazilian fans to the arena. However, I don't think he had the skill, or chin for that matter, to hang with the Mayweather that fought back then. Mayweather was beating good fighters pretty handily.

          Interesting, another deluded ex boxer.
floyd KOd the late great chico corralles who beat this fellah into giving up and hamed was a weight division lower coming up from super bantam and a fair bit shorter.
the only other name of note on Freitas record was Joel casamayor. Freitas danced about picking shots very well but his power came from throwing whilst launching himself in, Floyd would have worked that out from watching previous fights and KOd him with ease. He was in top ten at the time prior to losing against Diego then, he was finished.

Do they and am I just unaware? Because it doesn't seem that way. Yeah I get that MMA is huge in Brazil but that's relatively recent, in historical terms.
Well they don't have the Finances to come to USA & Box otherwise they would!!

Yup - when he quit against Chico in a fight he was winning, that was it for him.

Every boxer in history ducked everyone, just got to ask the right guy to tell you who they ducked, funny that.
