No matter how bad things got for Israel Vazquez, you couldnt wipe the smile off his face. Although plagued later in life by serious vision problems, an MS diagnosis and the cancer that cost him his life at age 46, he is remembered for his "warrior spirit" and the love he roused in and out of the ring.

Loved watching this warrior compete. As a new boxing fan in the late late 90s I could never understand why the lower weight classes were so disrespected. Ffs jameel mcline and other boring big men on big cards and israel vs oscar on FNF?

All the best to his family and as much as I dont like the wbc, props for helping them out.

Izzy had the real mexican warriors heart and never ducked a breathing soul. It was a honor to participate in the fund raiser. RIP Champ

I've never thought much of Mauricio as a person, the WBC as a whole, however..
He clearly has empathy. And it's good of him to help ex fighters.

IMO his first 3 fights against Marquez is the best in boxing when it comes to rivalry. The 4th one Vazquez was diminished. True warrior with epic memorable fights, you can't any more from a fighter.

Vasquez was awesome to watch live. His comeback win against Jhonny Gonzalez was epic. The commentators were all but just about thinking Jhonny was coasting to a UD when the unexpected happened. Then his wars with Marquez were awesome. Dude was a warrior.

Amazing fighter... always smiling outside the ring, always cordial.
A true warrior. Much respect and sympathy to his family.
