I loved Chico, and was eager to see him winning that fight.

But boy, did he take a beating for the ages.

I must say, it was during this fight that I started understanding how good Floyd really was. Before the fight, I thought it was going to be a close, competitive fight and I really wanted Chico to win (like I wanted many other fighters to beat Floyd after that fight as well). Needless to say, it was a complete domination, Mayweather master class on full display.

Was gonna glaze Floyd a bit but then this delightful quote popped up in the article:

"Mayweather used Corrales’ legal issues to taunt him in the build-up: “I want Diego because I’m doing it for all the battered women across America”, Mayweather said. “Just like he beat that woman, I’m going to beat him”."

          What a hero

I watched Corrales every time out, because he was an exciting fighter. However, despite his considerable skills, he often chose not to use them. It was viewed as a great win for Mayweather at the time. Since then? Corrales was a guy who was fortunate to get into the HOF, mainly because of the Castillo war. Yes, he has a win over Freitas. He went 1-2 vs Casamayor. He's kind of an Arturo Gatti level guy. He was never going to beat Mayweather.

This was not Floyd's best outing. It was his most surprising. I thought he would struggle mightily against Corrales. I think everyone was shocked by the ease in which Mayweather dominated Diego.

Mayweather's best outing was against Jesus Chavez. Floyd had to dig down to pull it off. He forced Chavez's corner to throw in the towel, because Floyd showed how relentless he could become and be. I looked at Mayweather differently after that fight.

Corrales was weight drained at 130 and recovering from bronchitis. Floyd’s best win.
