Meh what could have been. I mean I’ll watch lord knows I’ll watch but feels like a retirement fund for both now. Joshua has had a solid career if he wants a few more why not!

He was'nt 'keen' on fighting Wilder or Fury or do you think that was 'timing'...like Barry Hearn said of Wilder at the time (pre -fury fights) quote ' If he doesn't get to fight Wilder for the next ten years , then I'll take that' ..sounds like he /they wasn't keen , then Fury, he said his confidence was low ...okay , and no trainer and 'commercial' obligations , then flattened by Danny boy , and offered rematch but he ran from that ...you drop some decent posts , but not with you on this.
Come on now, we know that’s not how it went down lol. Are we going to conveniently ignore that Wilder is on record saying he turned down more money to fight AJ when picking Fury instead? He was also signed to fight Wilder, but it fell through after his upset loss to Parker in what was tagged as a warm-up fight.
AJ has fallen short, but no objective person can deny that he has repeatedly stepped up to embrace challenges and not run from any of them.Comment

Joshua has generally fought everyone. 100% bought the glitz and glamour back to HW boxing - after the Klitschko Bros drained it and Fury had his breakdown.
Its not people not being a fan of his I notice, it's just the hate. His association with Hearn defo adds to it.
He wants to fight, he brings eyes and makes big events and can spark people or be sparked. He'll be missed when he's gone.
I used to say the same about Floyd, and its shown to be true. I'd give anything for those big, Vegas, mega-events he used to deliver. They don't even exist anymore, yet people used to just hate and moan when it was in full swing. Sad.Comment

I'm sure I've just overheard on some news channel that Tyson Fury has announced his retirement (again). Hopefully it's just a negotiation ploy and/or a way to keep his name in the headlines because he surely needs to fight Joshua before they both hang them up. Fury said as much himself recently, though Fury does say a lot of things.Comment

Mate you can’t say AJ wasn’t keen on timing, and then quote Barry Hearn as your proof..what sense does this make? He doesn’t represent AJ in any professional capacity whatsoever..who cares what he thinks or says?

The hard facts are AJ was signed to fight Fury, as announced by Fury himself back in May 2021, but this was derailed when Wilder won his lawsuit enforcing an allegedly lapsed rematch clause for the third fight, which apparently came as a surprise to everybody. And as already explained, AJ was clearly willing to fight Wilder before this based on comments from Wilder himself, and the fight was once again signed and sealed had Wilder not messed up by losing against Parker. Literally everything I’ve said here is in the public domain..to deny is either wilful ignorance or straight up lying tbh.
Yes AJ opted out of the Dubois rematch, but so what? It’s not ducking when you’ve already fought that guy and had the s*** beat out of you, while doing absolutely nothing to even warrant a rematch in the process. And it’s definitely not running from a challenge when you decide to pursue an arguably more difficult but higher profile fight with Fury instead.Comment

Wilder *himself* said Joshua offered him more money to fight him than Fury did, but he (Wilder) chose Fury - what else do you want?
How many top-10 fighters has Fury fought in last 9 years? the answer is three (Whyte, Wilder,Usyk). That's terrible and now he is "retiring" to try and get a lot of money to finally fight AJ. His fans enable this behavior. Without the fan boys we would have got a ton of decent Fury fights (win or loss)Last edited by Roberto Vasquez; 01-13-2025, 12:14 PM.Comment
