There does need to be a cancel culture in boxing and Garcia should be one of the first on the list.
You’re leaving out that Garcia came in way overweight.

Was Los Angeles ever “the highest paying place”? Not in my 50 years of following boxing.

More crying about Turki and Saudi A. Wtf.
I could understand it if there was a vibrant boxing scene in the USA but there just hasn't been since maybe May-Pac and even before.
        Hbo and Showtime left.
Fighters like Canelo, Tank, Teo, and Crawford are more businessmen than sportsmen. The Spence fight was an exception for Bud.
PBC ran through funds paying mediocre fighters 2/3 million for mediocre fights.
        Arum gets into contract disputes.
        Ditto DLH.
PBC induced a mass exodus from GBH.

In short it was (and still is) a s-h-i-t show> best rarely fighting best except at 154 and earlier on at 147 meaning disappointed fans griping or walking away from the sport altogether. If not the case why do we think HBO and Showtime shut shop on boxing?

In comes Turki. Fights are getting made at last,, good ones. In fifty years time nobody will be talking about Turki and Saudi? Want proof? Whoever talks about the murderous Congolese dictator Mobutu when discussing the Rumble in the Jungle?

And let's say Turki gets bored with boxing and walks away? There'll need to be a massive reset. A fresh start. Perhaps purses will drop so low that terrestrial TV stations will be encouraged to show the best fights thereby garnering boxing a whole new set of young fans.

Or, if Turki had never invested we could have seen boxing continue on life support (in the USA) for 5-10 more years, the careers of top fighters stagnating as they fought once every 12-18 months.
