Manny's 1st fight at ww he's fighting De La Hoya who has fought at the ww/jmw limit for years De La Hoya had just about every physical advantage to boot.

He got the brakes beat off him and you cats been making excuses ever since
    DLH - At his worst
Cotto - At his worst Would not rematch him w/o a clause
Margarito - At his worst but north of WW

    Those brakes were defective !
    Your boy is a coward

Doesnt change the fact Oscar was a shipwreck, gaining only 2lbs is a direct consequence of the body being drained beyond rehydrating by normal methods, he was fckd and he did it to himself I don't blame Manny for this at all, I feel the writing was on the wall when he couldn't make 150 for Steve Forbes who was a LW and he gave Oscar loads of problems, and then go down even more was suicide against Manny who was way better than Forbes, all in the history books now.

    It was at welterweight.

The problem is that Oscar hadnt fought there in many years

He thought it would be a cherry pick. Pac was at 130 a year before the fight and had just gotten to 135 then up to 147 next. He had to be IV rehydrated which is now banned in a lot of states i believe. they way underestimated how bad the weight cut for oscar would be

Tried to move back down he did move back down two divisions mind you and beat the #1 guy Tarver. It's called daring to be great.

That's the difference between guys like Oscar, Rj from your crush Floyd

That's why you rarely see guys moving down to fight some.

Pac needed DLH to move down but was Gung Ho to fight Margarito north of WW.

Too many issues with Pac fights.
True. If I had been in boxing as long back then as I have been now, I would’ve called that fight for Pacquiao based on the reason alone that Oscar hadn’t fought in forever at that weight.

Chad Dawson took a massive L when he tried to fight Ward at 168.

The only fighters I can think of in recent memory that moved DOWN back in weight after some time at a certain weight class is Jesse Rodriguez about a couple years ago I think and Nonito Donaire after getting KO’d by Nicholas Walter’s. Other than that, it’s a bad idea 90% of the time to move down and try ti win.

People around the world saw that fight for what it was, a split decision that give or take a point/round or 2 it could have gone either way.

There was a rematch clause out of Oscar mouth he said Floyd welched on it by retiring for a year and a day.
    GhostofDempsey GhostofDempsey likes this.
