The real term of Catch weight, is contracted weight meaning its a weight outside the normal for the participates, you say 147 is WW , its actually anywhere from 140 to 147 , now if a 135 guy fought a 154 guy at 147 its still a CW, contracted weight other than their normal weightclass, another example of how messed up the terminology is if it was 146 or 148 its a catch weight but 147 isnt, its just all wrong and makes no sense, Manny coming from 140 and Oscar coming from 154 and meeting at 147 really is a CW.

Oscar was so far removed from his best day’s , that Pacquiao deserves little credit. Not to mention Oscar had to adhere to a CatchWeight . I hate it when boxer’s get credit for beating others past their due by date.

RJJ moved up to HW then tried to move back down. It was the beginning of the end for him.

Tried to move back down he did move back down two divisions mind you and beat the #1 guy Tarver. It's called daring to be great.

True. If I had been in boxing as long back then as I have been now, I would’ve called that fight for Pacquiao based on the reason alone that Oscar hadn’t fought in forever at that weight.

Chad Dawson took a massive L when he tried to fight Ward at 168.

The only fighters I can think of in recent memory that moved DOWN back in weight after some time at a certain weight class is Jesse Rodriguez about a couple years ago I think and Nonito Donaire after getting KO’d by Nicholas Walter’s. Other than that, it’s a bad idea 90% of the time to move down and try ti win.

People around the world saw that fight for what it was, a split decision that give or take a point/round or 2 it could have gone either way.
