Comments Thread For: Xander Zayas jilted by Vergil Ortiz, who'll instead fight Madrimov: 'I accepted the fight, never heard back'

The carousel of contenders who emerged for Vergil Ortiz Jnr's next fight featured plenty of top fighters far and wide, but eventually, it was Israil Madrimov who was the winner and got the chance to face the knockout artist on February 22 in Saudi Arabia.

    Xander vs Charles Conwell

We still don't know if Madrimov will make it pass Serhii. Uzbek don't have that "dog" in them. Once Madrimov feel the professional Pressure from Serhii, his game plan will change. Doubt that he can stop Serhii. Now Serhii is more motivated to win that match for the disrespect from Team Madrimov.

It should have been Vergil vs the guy who beat Tim Tszyu.

Don't think it's the smartest move by madrimov to take a fight with Bohachuk and then Ortiz in the space of 8 weeks.. Bohachuk is a top contender and a very good fighter so it's kinda like hes overlooking him to take a fight with Ortiz aswell. Because if it's a gruelling fight which it very well could be than is he even gonna make it to the Ortiz fight. Bohachuk vs Madrimov and Zayas vs Ortiz could of definitely worked. Just a shame boots didn't take the fight

I love it. This is old school. I think Madrimov beats both these guys.

More shady ish from the Saudis, albeit this is a much better fight.

I'm telling you, they're dirty how they do business.

Am I understanding this correctly? Xander is not as qualified but a fighter with 8 weeks in between fights is better qualified to fight Virgil?

Not hard to realize that when there’s no bullchit lingering , it’s quite easy to resolve what happened in negotiations between two fighters

Back that up with an argument. Considering in less than 13 months they’ve given us better cards than pbc has in the past 5 years. Folks love to trash them for their own reasons yet we are getting good stacked cards while pbc, tr, even golden boy give us 5 very little cache fights with a main card featuring their stars against no hopers. Who is tank fighting? Oh that’s right…still refusing to fight anyone who would give him that work.
