This piece serves as a reminder of how boxing is deeply taxing on not only the body but also the mind. The impact of isolating yourself to train for a sport where you are putting your life on the line, while being exposed in the public eye to the many haters out there, is unimaginable to me. I hope the haters out there consider this as they pour
out their senseless venom, a poisonous discourse that has no real purpose.

        Rest in peace, warrior.

Instead up “man up”, “Open up!” Men have to be ok with showing weakness otherwise mental health will suffer. Thank you for this article

Big up James DeGale: “...from when he passed, I’ve always had D.S. on my shorts – and this world title is for him as well... That was my way of saying thank you for our fights. It was such a sad time. I won a world title, so he won a world title at the same time”.

              RIP Darren Sutherland.

did a bit more reading on it

seems that maybe the guy was a bit in fear of his promoter at the time

"And he strongly defended the penning of the crucial note given as evidence at this week's inquest, describing the claim that the boxer would be "destroyed" by his promoter if he quit the sport as "Darren's own words".

"Mr Maloney broke down as he told the inquest that Darren had no reason to fear him. He maintained that he never put pressure on the youngster to fight - and insisted they had a good relationship"

                  hhhhmmm

from what i can see the boxer might have been falling out of love of the sport for whatever reasons and not enjoying it so much but had a contract and had to pay it off and that caused him a lot of pressure and it was too much away from home on his own with expectation etc

it could have been worked out with a better setup for the guy i would say, some can hack it on their own others cant

Fine work commemorating Darren's career, Tris. I got to interview him when I covered Irish sport and was stunned by his death. Gone far too soon.
