Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez unifies cruiserweight titles with hard-fought decision win over Chris Billam-Smith

Gilberto Ramirez is now the unified cruiserweight champion after adding Chris Billam-Smith's WBO belt to his own WBA title. Ramirez won a rough and hard-fought 12-round decision at The Venue, Riyadh, as the bill-topper for Latino Night by scores of 116-112 (twice) and 116-113 and, frankly, Ramirez boxed superbly.

I wanted CBS to win but fair play to Ramirez, great performance. Never let Chris get in any sort of rhythm, good body work, good feet and effective counter punching. CBS had his moments but Zurdo was the deserved winner and I wish him well against Opetaia.

Zurdo looked both technical and sharp against and always tough CBS, it was an enjoyable fight and also proves how great of a fighter Bivol really is too.

Jai would present a tougher task at hand for Zurdo so cant wait for that one.

The Judges scorecards are an indication they don't know what they are doing or looking for round by round Zurdo won by a much larger margin than what was given. Period!

Hopefully Beterbiev now moves to cruiser. Zurdo did his job tonight but he was hurt in that first round and then in the mid rounds to the body. I think Beterbiev wipes him out which would then set up a unification with Opetia nicely.
