  • What's with these fake compubox numbers?

On both Amazon and Netflix. I noticed on the Amazon shows as well, its like they are counting every punch that touches something, whether it lands or not

Compubox is basically a scam, it's just two guys with a clicker device that they press for every punch they think landed. Prone to gross human error and half the time these guys might be drunk or high.

I know what compubox is, historically you have to take it with a pinch of salt but recently I noticed that the numbers of punches thrown/landed are massively inflated on a few different shows, dont know if the broadcast are doing their own punch counter

Yeah I’ve never found them reliable. The use of “compu” in their name is wildly misleading. They also seem to be terrible people from looking at their Twitter accounts.

Sooner they get removed from boxing the better. There’s a new company that uses AI to register punches, definitely seems like the way forward and much more reliable in capturing and categorising the punches.

When it’s a fast paced fight with limited visibility, a guy tapping away on a device is going to have a decent margin of error.

Flurries were fast and furious all the way; to count them, they just mashed the buttons, they can never be accurate in that type of fight.

I wouldn't be surprised if they fired the clicker guys and just invented the numbers to save budget. When do we ever see the guys behind the Compubox doing the clicker job . They're essentially ghosts and don't get any public recognition. Ring announcer doesn't mention them like the judges and refs. Cameras never film them. Zero exposure, zero accountability. So the numbers could just be pulled out of thin air by someone in the studio and no one would know.
