  • Comments Thread For: What is gained by Mike Tyson-Jake Paul?

Mike Tyson's return to the boxing ring before 80,000 fans at AT&T Stadium in Texas while streamed to the nation without an extra charge would seemingly be the most positive development of the boxing year. Yet, there's such great angst over this Friday novelty bout on Netflix that pits the 58-year-old former world champion against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

      1. Huge money for all parties involved
      2. The satisfaction to watch JP unconscious body on the canvas. (Kinda unlikely but still crossing fingers)

      ...that's about it.

Don't be shocked if there's a controversial finish and they end up doing a trilogy. Paul is running out of "fighters" to make money with , the novelty has worn off and his fights haven't been drawing like the first few.

Sure, Pauli and Chris are decrying this fight. But one thing neither of them said is that they won't be tuning in.

If anyone pays to watch this then just understand that this scripted fight already has a bigining middle and end

              14 oz gloves + 2 minute rounds = not a real fight

It's Hella scripted or we might see the first guy have a heart attack in the ring in a high profile "fight"

Has anybody considered how Tyson feels in all this? If that dude knows the risk and has trained for it at 58 years old who the hell cares what anyone else's opinion is. It's his life and risk he has definitely earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants.

Is it even a real fight? I bet not. They’ve at least got clauses in the contract that limit what the fighters can do in the ring. Tyson probably isn’t allowed to finish JP in the first two rounds, for example.

To the OP: No, nothing is to be gained from this matchup.
