I Have to agree with you, They making out this guys in the past are magician when they're not, I admire both set of generation but to say Mayweather is just a boxer with speed his a bit silly IMO, I even think Mayweather's speed his overrated, He has a great timing yes but he isnt the fastest boxer around and that isnt his biggest assets in the ring.

Fighters of the past also have these iconic superhero images in our head. If you take Floyd/Pac/Cotto and compare them to Oscar/Tito/Whitaker, Oscar/Tito/Whitaker are always gonna win when you ask people. Same as if you compared Oscar/Tito/Whitaker to Ray/Hagler/Hearns. Ray/Hagler/Hearns ****s on them all. Don't know if it's because they would or if it's because I've put these guys on such a high pedestal all my life.

This summed up everything to me...

“They talk about Mayweather’s speed, but he isn’t as fast and as skillful as Bernie Docusen, who fought Sugar Ray Robinson for the title in 1948 and gave him plenty of trouble,” Goodman said in the book. “Would you say Mayweather’s going to give Ray Robinson as a welterweight plenty of trouble? There’s no comparison. But you go and tell that to a young boxing fan today and they think you’re a psycho.”

The hate for Floyd is becoming out of this world. Say what you want about the man but dont tell me he is just a speed guy. He's one of the most complete fighters to ever lace them up. His D is out of this world, he can throw every punch in the book, is good inside & out, and has a good chin. His technique & fundementals are unmatched. How can guys deny that?

Then you have this idiot writing a book and saying something dumb about Floyd vs SRR at WW? Thats the same crap people say about Floyd vs SRL or Hearns. How can you compare them? Its so unfair to compare them at WW when they were huge guys in there 1st class and Floyd is in his 4th and until recently was coming into the ring at 146 pounds. Ofcourse they will look way better but compare them to him at SFW. His 1st class. He stacks up just as good. Compare him at 130-140 with anyone in history. Its like people only see this WW Floyd and judge him that way. He was brilliant before WW. Its so unfair to just take him at WW and compare him to the other legends at WW. Be reasonable. Anyone can see that there is a cut off limit to him because physicaly he's not the same guy at WW that he was at the lower 3 classes.

Haterz will always be there. Floyd's problem has always been that he kept jumping weights to get the big money Oscar fight. If he had stayed at LW for a long time, and just moved up to 140 to finish his career then everyone would be judging him differently. He wouldve been super at those weights and extremely offensive. Instead, he moved up to WW, was scared of the size, and decided to be a pot shot guy. Dont tell me that people at 130-140 would kill him though. Thats a joke. And also dont tell me that P4P SRL, SRR, or Hearns is way better than him. Theyre not. At WW? So far its clearly yes but there WW to him at SFW, which is both of there 1st class and when they were at there best. Hell No there not way better if there better at all

floyd mayweather is arguably the most skilled fighter in boxing history---this can be argued amongst young and old fans as well as fighters and trainers---just think about his performances against his top opponents---me looked sensational with the exception of castillo, but he won a 2 tough fights---and he beat dlh by ud, not sd, and took the bigger man's jab away from him, something he has done with most of his opponents taking their famous punch away by countering it and making them lose confidence in it as well as making them alter their styles against him(that's brilliance folks)...and everybody else---he looked amazing--that takes skill--not just physical attributes---****--ask george forman and roy jones and lewis how great of a boxer floyd is---they commentated on many of his fights in the pst---george at one time called floyd the most pure boxer in the game and this was back when floyd was at 130 with only several fights under his belt---

i love ray robinson to death and i feel that currently--to this da he is the greatest p4p fighter in history--but skillwise for teddy atlas to **** on floyd when teddy is only known for his training--that befuttals me a bit---if floyd is only based on speed---then why don't teddy train a fighter to beat him then----i be he won't because he knows just how giftedly skilled floyd has always been and still is----the man is a ring general like not other and knows how to read his opponents moves very well---which is why he is such a great counterpuncher....which is why his punch output percentage is for the most part always close to, at, or above 50% while his opponent's output % is very low...lets not talk about his balance, witty mindset, adjusting skills, stamina, patience in the ring, ability to fight through adversity---all things he has done throughout his career---winning legit titles at multiple weight classes doesn't just take speed---it takes a sharp mind and great boxing skills---and floyd has shown this and much more---so for him to be compared to srr in terms of skill---i have no problem with that i he would have given any fighter in history a very very tough fight---no fighter in history imo would be him easily...no fighter---he's that great a fighter---like it or not-----

Hate on Floyd for being an arrogant arse or whatever else but to deny his skills is beyond me. Discussions comparing modern day fighters to ATG's seems pointless to me as modern day fighters never get a fair rub and never seem to until they retire or reach the end of the career.

Teddy Atlas is a tool by the way and resembles Sloth out The Goonies older, slightly more ******ed brother.

Everybody must understand though, it dosent stop with PBF. There isnt a fighter fighting right now that at this point of his career can be spoke of in the same breath SRR,Jack Dempsey,Jack Johnson, Ali, Joe Louis. Those gusy were like the founding fathers of the sport.
