Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis on being an introvert, the Usyk-Fury rematch, the death of his mother, and life after boxing

Former world heavyweight champion and one of the all-time great big men, Lennox Lewis is one of the lucky ones. Post-boxing, there have been few public struggles, no tabloid stings, no roller coaster of trauma and Lewis - a 2009 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee - banked fortune.

For me it was the out of nowhere left hook that wobbled and discombobulated Frank Bruno when Bruno had spent the entire fight beating Lewis from pillar to post

Lennox would have been up there with anyone in any era. When he considers Mavrovic as one his best performances , 'because he was smaller' made me consider the fact that Usyk would have given him nightmares but then he beat Holyfield didn't he , so again any era. Only had the privilege of seeing him blast out Razor Ruddock in 2 at Earls court but would have loved to see him in there with a prime Fury and Usyk , and probably have a few quid on him.

Always a class act, my brother was in Vegas a few months ago and he and his wife ran into Lennox and I was riding my motorcycle when he called me and told me he was with Lennox, I pulled over and was able to speak with him briefly but the most important part was his concern for me being on the bike and he said it a couple times be careful bro! Also it's ironic that his mom passed on my sisters birthday whom I loss in 2019.

Its weird for him to say "But I think I can say this: I think training for our era was taken very seriously. We put ourselves in camp, we took ourselves out of our environments, and we went away" when during his two losses he blamed that he wasnt focused and didnt train right and came in overweight

I never really thought of it but Usyk could certainly outwork, outbox and outland him. that is crazy to think about if you would have asked me 5 years ago I would have laughed and thought Lennox was too big, but really hes only got 20 pounds and 2" of height on usyk and I think unless he gets a KO he looses a decision.

Lewis was a great great fighter who fought everyone in his era. He doesn't get the same mention sometimes because he led a clean life meaning he didn't have 10 kids, get arrested for assault, excessive drinking and other stuff. He was also a quiet guy too. When he got in the ring though he was great at beating up people and that's what matters the most.
