Well, he's got a belt, so some folks are going to need to step up to face him if they want to collect it. I know he's no where near household name and maybe this Tim fight was a 1 and done performance, but at least he brings more excitement to the division. Even if only the die hard know who he is at the moment.

Well said! I agree with you, Murtazaliev is a great addition to the 154lb mix.

I may have taken Kathy Duva too literal and took a stand that was a little too hard line. In my eyes, Spence, Crawford and Charlo are stars but there is no denying that Murtazaliev has the spot light and Kathy needs to parlay that attention before the boxing world moves on.

The tricky part will be finding Murtazaliev the right opponent. If Kathy can get a fight with a name and, or, a belt, (while the iron is still hot) it would make Murtazaliev a lot of money and get the exposure he needs.

The problem as I see it is that Fundora has a money fight with Spence. Crawford would be perfect but he wants Canelo or nothing, Madrimov and Bohachuk are committed. Vigil Ortiz just went life and limb and no-matter what Oscar says in public, he's not going to let that happen. Kathy might be able to land Erickson Lubin but keep in mind, Lubin will want a lot of money.

IMO, there's a good chance Murtazaliev might get stuck fighting someone the IBF arbitrarily elevates and to get the fights Murtazaliev needs he may be forced to move to middle or even super middleweight.

I know this may sound crazy but I would pay to see Ennis move up to 154lbs to make the fight. Crazy right? But I believe Boots Ennis has the size and style to beat Murtazaliev and if he did, it would be like someone just detonated a bomb in the Jr middleweight division. Not going to happen but I wish.
