i wondered if that guy would show up again at some point, he had a day job that he kept was in some form of the construction business That is not easy to do to have to work a 9 to five and train and pull fights together. 35 and still looking to see what is in the tank good for him.

Fight doesn't even show up on Boxrec. Was it an exhibition?

Shame Cancio never got on TV after signing with Top Rank. Casuals watching ESPN would have absolutely eaten up the whole "local construction worker moonlights as boxer" angle.

Cancio had his big moment in those two Machado fights. He was rewarded with the headline against Alvarado and I remember thinking it seemed like he came in out of shape. He was lethargic and got stopped in that one. Big opportunity lost.

i remember Cancio saying he would not want to drop his day job bc of keeping his Benifits n security with the local company he was working for, the only other guy that held a job at that time i remember was Joe Jr. from NYC............. Not an easy decision to make when you want to train full time but the odds of making it with the match ups and what not of Boxing makes it a tough choice.
