AI Will Eventually Be Used To Score Fights

Yea, I dont know why boxing doesn't implement open scoring.
Good post.
I would consider 2026 the near future — anything in the next couple of years, really. I recall a conversation in 2007 with a brain surgeon I used to work for, who was also a big baseball fan. I stated with assurance that baseball would one day use technology to call balls and strikes. AI was obviously nowhere in sight, but the necessary technology was already being used on TV. He disagreed with me, but you and I know it’s finally about to happen.
I don’t think it would be difficult for AI to detect punch effectiveness. Ring generalship would be much trickier, but who really scores that in practice anyway? Some form of human involvement might be inevitable, but the most important scoring aspects would be completely handled by artificial intelligence. And yes, I agree that open scoring should be required even now.
there needs to be more transparency in the sport.

You know why. We all do. The sport is corrupt. If the governing bodies were legit, they’d have implemented open scoring long ago. With baseball, changes come slowly for two main reasons: the unions and tradition. The boxing powers-that-be might have to be pressured into using AI, but it’s only a matter of time IMO.Comment

AI can't be bought, so there's that.
I still say put each judge in a separate room, with the biggest TV (8K)
NO SOUND
Give them the ability to rewind and pause the action.
Have each of those rooms fitted with cameras that record sound.
Any form of communication is banned from those rooms.
We don't need AI to make judges better.
The fix is fuhgging easy and cheap.Comment

- - Any double digit IQ could use AI to score fights. Boxing won't let it because they would lose million$...This isn’t a news announcement or anything; it’s simply a thought. The day is fast approaching when artificial intelligence will be used to effectively score fights. AI will accurately determine the number of punches landed, and gauge the force of those punches. AI could also determine other factors like defense, but these are by far the two main scoring criteria. This would obviously do away with human judges, greatly reduce corruption and eliminate incompetent scoring. The sport will improve immensely, and fans will come back in droves. I can’t wait to see that day.
