Is John Riel Casimero a waste of talent?

John Riel Reponte Casimero (born February 13, 1989) is a Filipino professional boxer and YouTuber. He has held world championships in three weight classes; including the IBF junior-flyweight title from 2012 to 2013; the IBF flyweight title in 2016; and the WBO bantamweight title from 2019 to 2022. Quadro Alas is Tagalog for four of a kind when translated, his moniker means Four Aces.

Personally, I never really tried to look in-depth to his career. Perhaps because in the past he had absurd backing by his countrymen from the Philippines which were persisting that he was the best and that he was avoided by more accomplished fighters who were consistently undermined to hype him up, despite that Casimero never quite attempted to aim for those challenges.

He had inconsistent performances having debatable split decision wins over Pedro Guevara and a quite aged Guillermo Rigondeaux along with losses to Ramon Garcia Hirales, Moruti Mthalane, Amnat Ruenroeng (which Casimero avenged his loss against the undefeated champ) and Jonas Sultan. But considering he had close fights, means he could had won them more decidedly if he was more dedicated and had a proper camp.

He still managed to become a three-division champion with his athletic prowess, stopping iron chinned fighters such as Ammant Ruenroeng (17-0, 5 KOs), Duke Micah (24-0. 19 KOs), Zolani Tete (29-4, 22 KOs), and now Saul Sanchez (21-3, 12 KOs) rather recently. Which I consider impressive since had debuted at light flyweight up to fighting at super bantamweight. (108>122, 24 pounds)

He has shown to be out of shape recently after being unactive fighting once per year since 2020 and failing to make weight against Saul Sanchez by a few kilograms.

He could had fought against Rungvisai, Cuadras, Chocolatito Gonzalez, and Estrada. Along with Inoue and Donaire. But despite having been in the same divisions in the same time period as these fighters, it seems quite late already.

Casimero A true monster in the ring. Sanchez should destroy casimero because he's dehydrated and they put rehydration clause that casimero should only weight 128lbs at fight night and also they demand casimero to wear bigger gloves but still casimero easily destroyed sanchez who was never been knock out before.

That's on Casimero however, the rehydration clause was only applied to compensate his opponent after he missed weight, plus can't say for sure if he was dehydrated considering that elite fighters in the lighter weight classes don't to rehydrate near their walking weight, but rather at their optimal weight.

Naoya Inoue rehydrated 122 to 133 pounds in his last bout against Doheny despite that he walks around 140 outside of camp.

John Riel is a bit smaller at 5'4.

casimero fight night weight was always around 135lbs and he hasn't eat and only drink small amount of water so that he don't weight more than 128lbs at fight night
and also wear a heavier gloves which is a very big advantage for sanchez but casimero was on a different level.ß
