If you don't think that's an extreme outlier I've got a bridge to sell you.
With that logic, ALL professional athletes are "extreme outliers".

How many Canelo Alvarezes are there?

But still Mexican kids boxing by the millions.

How many Muhammad Alis were there?

But kids all over the world still tried.

The types of people who go into professional sports don't go into to be mediocre or be just rank & file.

They wouldn't go into Rugby with that logic.

How many people get to make $250,000 a year playing Rugby?

90% of people playing Rugby won't ever get to that level.

Of course all athletes are outliers but Chisora is an outlier amongst outliers so he's arguably the worst example to use.

Anyone who's a heavyweight is an outlier, the average man in America is what 5'9 and 200 pounds (holy shít).

So a modern day heavyweight is a standard deviation or two outside the norm just based on those metrics, let alone their athletic ability, drive, determination, toughness etc etc.

No but most athletic islanders choose rugby and if they're half decent they will get on the national team and they don't even have to be the most important player on said team to earn the aforementioned money.

It's not even world level, it's the equivalent to domestic level where they earning that money, you're comparing apples to oranges and you don't even realize it...

Then, again, why does anybody choose boxing in any country?

Why do Mexicans or Americans or Brits or anybody else box when they can just aim to be a domestic level soccer, basketball, football, baseball or rugby player & make a decent salary?

Most people do choose other sports, that's kind of the point, Jesus even the average CEO is 6'2 big men aren't pursuing boxing like that.

We're talking particularly about Oceania e.g places like Australia, New Zealand and surrounding islands, where "rugby" is 2x the viewership of the next biggest sport and 7x that of the third biggest sport.
          1. Britains Football largest ever game 46% of countries population watching, biggest PPV boxing event - 2.6% of population.
          2. Australia and "AFL/rugby" largest ever game 27% of countries population watching
          3. America and NFL largest ever game 6% of countries population watching. biggest PPV boxing event - 1.3% of population.

There are 1130 Professional Football Clubs in Europe alone and each team has 11 active players and 5 subs so about 18k players.

And players on the same team can be earning 2-3x more than other players...

As for playing other sports like football (soccer) they're divisions like division 3 where you get paid fúck all.

And by fúck all I mean barely above minimum wage similar to boxing unless you know for a fact you're making it you might as well just work as a bus driver or a similar role and earn similar wages.

It would technically be easier to make it in boxing as you're not having to go through multiple "divisions" just winning and if you're good enough you should be winning.

And you can rely on your own performances to display your skills and separate yourself from the chaff.

You're also not hampered by your teammates (because you don't have any) or dependent on them to display the aforementioned "skills".

A prime example of this is Usyk, he was a football player until he was injured and then became a boxer and there are many more like him.

As you well know boxing is the secondary choice not the primary for most of these guys.

As for why they choose to do boxing as with most sports stars they have delusional self belief (not a bad thing btw) and think they'll be the next Ali or Mayweather or whomever.

And if you can do so then you can make big money, maybe not as much as if you're the biggest football player for example but still huge money.
