It took almost 100 years from Bob Fitzsimmons' reign as heavyweight champion for another to be crowned from British shores, and there was plenty of unkind mockery and name-calling that went before.

Michael Bentt was British? I just looked it up and apparently he was born in London.

There have been some great all- British heavyweight matchups. In my youth, as an American, it was Frank Bruno who represented the UK heavyweight scene. Henry Hyde always seemed like a scary, murderous puncher...then Lennox came along and dominated the scene for what seemed forever.

There were contenders and pretenders up until AJ came onto the scene and then followed a flood of entertaining and capable fighters. And of course, throughout what seemed like all of it, there was my favorite fighter ever: Derek Chisora.
