  • Comments Thread For: Trevor McCumby 'excited' to shine under the big lights

It's a long way from the ProBox TV Events Center to T-Mobile Arena, but Trevor McCumby will find out if the pay-per-view stage in Las Vegas is too big when he meets former world titlist Caleb Plant on Saturday.

      good call maybe

      i doubt it

i suppose plant is a redneck so i guess he might mess up but the bumbly fella was long retired, caught with illegals and now beat a few lower guys to get this fight, usually not a good sign for a win unless hes juicing again i think he loses because hes not very good, even if hes juicing i still think he loses

I think Plant ain't all there lately and he's coming off a layoff of a year and a half after a severe Benavidez beating. Trevor isn't as good on a technical level, but he's bigger, fresher (three to zero with inactivity, no real trouble from the three he fought), and his cardio is miles above Plant's. He brings awkward, nasty pressure, which is what often causes Plant to wilt. Light heavyweight background. All he has to do is survive the pillow fight until round nine and he can finish what Benavidez started. This is also probably his only chance to finally make a name for himself. Plant had his chance. Twice now. I put $20 on Trevor pulling the upset. Let's see what happens.

One of the interviewers huddled in a group asking McCumby questions:
"What's all this talk about Plant saying you picked him to be your first step up fight?"
McCumby shrugging his shoulders: "He chose me, who am I, he's given four names and picked me..."

Jessie Hart is one of them and he's upset he didn't pick him.
