There was a 5 year gap in between the time they happened to fight Teixeira, but it is still found it kind of ironic.
That you mentioned the fighter who beat Adames, but just so happened to lose to Zayas when he fought him recently.
All that said Zayas is a better all around fighter than Adames is, and Adames is a current middleweight champion.
Zayas is going to be growing into a middleweight probably about some time in late 2025, and I Zayas can beat Adames for that title he holds.
I've always liked Zayas. I just hope he doesn't turn into another Boots, if you know what I mean.

He's not gonna be 21 forever.

Boots hasn't been managed, or promoted to the best of the abilities of the aforementioned in charge of his career.
Fortunately for Zayas he's promoted by Top Rank who has a history for making superstar champions out of certain boxers in his stable of fighters.
Look for Zayas to become a champion sometime in 2025, and a superstar of the sport in 2026 from there on, if he's the goods, and I believe he is!

Well, we shall see. But pummeling has-beens like Teixeira won't enhance his development. He'll need an acid test soon. Otherwise, he will wind up just like Boots ~ a pile of wins over soda cans and nothing legacy-enhancing.

The latest talk is that he's fighting Vito Mielnicki on June 2025 during the Puerto Rican Day Parade weekend.
Not that it would be the acid test that your talking about, because just like Xander, Vito is also an up, and coming fighter, but is a test.
Look for a top ten opponent in his nest fight in late 2025, his fan base'll demand it, more importantly so will Xander.
He will get a strap in late 2025, whether it's at 154 pound division, or at 160 is the question in my mind.
He won't be going into his 30th fight, in order to fight for a championship fight, or win one like it did in Boot's case.

June 2025 is far away. So he's gonna fight recycled cans until then? That'll sure do a lot for his development.
