Who has the best straight hand in boxing?

Mayweather's straight right is one of my favorite punches. So is Canelo. Adrien Broner has a good right hand.Blond Beast likes this.

Floyd’s lead right hand was one of the best punches in boxing history. Everyone knew he was going to throw it but it was never neutralized. It’s what stopped people from bum rushing him or walking him down. You can say Floyd didn’t hit really hard but then you have to explain how he didn’t have to. It was fast, sharp, accurate and could counter. Everyone knew it’s what he threw, but it was always better than they expected. There’s a reason everyone threw less punches when they fought Floyd. They connected less too. The first counter lead right his opponents took always made them check themselves.
With Canelo I think Hooks, not necessarily straight shots. Hooks up and down until fighters start to anticipate or dip and then he throws uppercuts as they fall into them.
Straight left hand has to be Corey Sanders at heavy anyway.

I don’t think he expected Floyd to be that damn good

Floyd would usually land a few clean rights early and it would get the respect. Getting countered hurts the most. Everyone’s output goes down against him. Jab to the body. Check hook. There’s a price to pay. He was also very strong against the ropes. Often dodging most shots then landing something clean for your troubles. I was lucky enough to be at the Zab Judah fight with my family. We always thought Zab’s speed would be difficult and it was at first. I still think Zab scored that KD with the glove touch. Floyd said Zab was a front runner and he proved it.
I always thought he’d beat Manny. Floyd fought plenty of lefties. Output goes down. Manny was frustrated early. You don’t see that, but that’s because he had never been in with Floyd. Everyone always admits after fighting him that he was better than they thought he was.
“Tune in to see me Win, Tune in to see me lose, Tune in to see me lose”. People had to watch just to see if he’d lose. In a way he made being undefeated matter so much it kind of had a negative effect on boxing for a while. Also the long marination of the manny fight then it still doing insane numbers also set a kind of a bad precedent. Not his fault. Just byproducts. If Floyd lost one fight even early in his career he’d never be worth the same.SouthpawRight likes this.

He dropped corales with a leaping left hook, he can do it he doesn't like to take risks though, think only other fight he did a leaping left might be vs gatti. When he knows he won't get countered
