Some of my favorite boxing movies...

Requiem For A Heavyweight - Brilliant B&W Classic, a must see. Written by Rod Serling. Starring Anthony Quinn as a washed-up boxer and his sad days at the end of his career. Jackie Gleason is great as a shady manager.

Fat City - Flick from the '70s directed by John Huston. Jeff Bridges is a small-time boxer trying to make ends meet. Some real, unknown veterans who the fight game wasn't particularly kind to make appearances in small roles. Shows how tough it is for no-name boxers.

The Penitentiary Trilogy - Fun Blaxploitation series with some of the greatest dialogue and characters you're likely to see, including "Half Dead" and Mr. T.

Diggstown - James Woods and Lou Gosset Jr. are con men trying to rob a small town with a 10-man boxing exhibition. Good B-movie you can find on cable.

Right Cross - From the '50s. Ricardo Montalban plays a Mexican-American champ with brittle hands.

The Great White Hope - James Earl Jones is great as Jack Johnson. Looks really good for a period piece.

The Great White Hype - Hudlin Bros (House Party) surprise with this funny boxing parody.

When We Were Kings - Excellent doc about "The Rumble In The Jungle"

Raging Bull - Damn near perfect filmmaking. **** it, this movie is perfect.
