Joe Chavez: Cotto's cutman, "I have the perfect medicine"

On November 14, Manny Pacquiao will be in his corner the experienced 'cutman' Argentine Miguel Diaz, who worked with Miguel Cotto in all championship fights until February last year.

And maybe that's why, one might think that the Filipino had an advantage. But the interesting thing here is that Cotto's corner, second fight will be followed by the 'cutman' Mexican Joe Chavez, who worked with Pacquiao in his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez and Marco Antonio Barrera. So this round is a draw.

"The coach and the person in charge of the tactical plan is Joe Santiago. I have other work here, but if they ask me where I can help and do my comments and I know very well Pacquiao. We made a few mistakes that Pacquiao, as they can not fight back. When attacked he does not know what to do, "said Chavez El Nuevo Dia, who this time joined the Cotto training well in advance, showing that it has a function beyond that of 'cutman'.

"I am very happy to be back and it took like two weeks here. It's better that way, because for the previous fight, against Joshua Clottey, when it debuted at the corner of replacing Diaz Cotto-I joined two days before the fight. Now I know better to Michael and that is an advantage, "said Chavez, who came under fire in his first chance with Cotto.

Early in the fight against Clottey, Cotto had a deep gash over his left eye, which got worse as the fight went on and the blood never stopped going out. Once combat, Cotto took him 22 stitches in the wound and stitched inside and out.

"The injury is fine. I stitched very well and closed. We have a concern that is reopened, but if it happens, if you cut again, I have the perfect medicine to work with that and would not affect him in the fight, "said veteran boxing man, who has already been in recent times on the opposite side of Pacquiao, as he was the 'cutman' by Oscar de la Hoya for his fight with the Filipino in December last year.

It was assumed that De La Hoya should win this fight by their size advantage. But the story was totally different and Pacquiao overwhelmed the Golden Boy, earning him a technical knockout and sent to retirement. Cotto also beats Pacquiao in strength and size, however, so far favor the Philippine bets.

"For this fight De La Hoya was overtrained. Under a lot of weight before the fight and was very weak. Cotto is a bull. Pacquiao is fast, but Cotto has much power in the punch and I see very, very strong. I think this will be the difference. Pacquiao has never fought a fighter as strong as Cotto.

Cotto looks bigger in that picture than in other ones we seen so far. I say he is at 154 right now.

              +1

And Chavez even said De La Hoya overtrain for his fight against Pacquiao so people around Cotto know what he can and can't do to prepare for this fight. Cotto knows he can't over do it so I expect him to get to weight without any problems!
