Juanma lopez: I made several MISTAKES!

Juanma Lopez acknowledged that he was mistaken in his fight last Saturday when he won with suffering at the Tanzanian Rogers Mtagwa in what was his fifth successful defense of the WBO super bantamweight belt.

"Saturday was a difficult night for me and for Puerto Rico. I made several mistakes and learned from that. Do not blame the corner, it was I who was wrong. I will rectify those mistakes, and I will continue to be champion, "Lopez said during a ceremony at the Sports Museum in Guaynabo, where he and Ivan Calderon received the diamond ring given by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) to fighters performing five successful defenses.

"Mistakes were committed by me," he reiterated unbeaten ****. "I should not stop and exchange punches with him (Mtagwa) but boxing.

His handler, Orlando Pineiro, with his usual unhurried style, said yesterday afternoon would meet to "talk about things that happened and we want to improve."

What is clear is that the jump to 126 pounds is not going back.

Lopez made it known that the bloody battle waged fists on Saturday appeared to have no consequences beyond a couple of scars and teaching.

"Everything is fine, we went to the doctor, did tests, MRI, and all is well. Only hope that the wound heals, "said Lopez.

For the detractors who used to criticize him without mercy, Lopez sent a clear message.

"These people can say whatever he wants. I can not please everyone. But right now I'm the best there is 122 pounds, "said Lopez.

    Deserved tribute

Beyond the fight, Lopez received the valuable ring yesterday OMB for his five successful defenses.

For Calderon was the second ring, for the five title defenses from 108 lbs. He had already received another for the five defenses scepter of 105 pounds.

"I asked Tito (Trinidad) has many defenses. He said he was 21. And I said 'I will do 22 to earn,' "Calderon said as she looked smiling at Trinidad, who was present at the ceremony. "I am 17 (defenses), four more to catch me and more to overcome. That is an extra motivation I have now. "

Lee also turned into praise for Titus, on which he has said is his idol. Yesterday, just received his ring from the hands of Trinity.

"This is a dream. Few champions have this ring, "said Lopez.

"It's an honor for me that Tito has given me the ring," added Lopez, sending a funny message to other boxers.

"For the boxers I say, follow my advice. If you want to dive photos, go somewhere with Tito and make thousands. Because when you go with Tito, who is photographing him, what I do is that I stick to "present yourselves, '" joked Lopez.

If it was Juanma that decided to trade with Mtagwa and not his corner then propz to him for being a man and taking the blame for it. I really hope he learned his lesson with this last fight.

Juanma needs a big win next time out to re confirm his status in the FW divison , if he comes through that then maybe Caballero but if your asking me after his last fight id fancy Celestino to beat the guy , and god knows what Gamboa would do to him !!!!!!!!!!

juanma right now looks like a 1 trick pony who can only do his straight left - right hook to ppl who are in fear of his power and retreating. All it took to expose his 1 dimension-ality was an experienced average fighter. What will he do against high quality opposition who dont fear his power and can adapt/move and give him angles?

It looked to me like the cut from the headbutt early in the fight hindered him for the rest of it. But I'm glad to see that he'll learn from the mistakes that he did make.

He aint one dimensional, if you have seen all his fights he can actually box really well and have a nasty jab, but the kid fell in love with his power and got a hue wake up call.

I think he needs a new corner!!!!
