I think "his excellency" will have a short shelf life in boxing, the entire seat of his power is predicated upon blowing huge sums of money, history has shown that is not sustainable in any form of business or governance. On top of that, he already believes he is bigger than the sport, which is going to piss off a proud traditionalist like Canelo. He will make big fights, no doubt about that, but I give it two years before this whole circus collapses on itself.

Sadly I agree with you. It's wishful thinking on my part. What's troubling is that the Saudis sense a weakness in the West, as if there's a scent of moral decay in the air now that emboldens them to push Turki on us and all the visibility it brings. Ten years ago I don't think they would have tried.
Boxing only had itself to blame. If the likes of Golden Boy, PBC, Top Rank etc didn’t have such protectionist, belt guarding approaches and co-operated and gave fans better fights, there wouldn’t be any gap in the market for the Saudi’s to move in.
I am not sure about this article. Sounds like speculation, not like factual knowledge. Also sounds like an article was written by someone with an axe to grind ( a bit of a hater if you ask me). One thing I have learned about life is that we never really understand finances in somebody else's house. In this case very few people would understand the real numbers behind the event.
That's true! How many times has PBC been declared dead??? However, for me, Kevin Iole is one of the best journalist in the sport, up there with Lance Pugmire, and Dan Rafael.
