Just the couple of arguments why i lean towards Cotto in that fight:
1) He had numerous opportunities to stop the fight (NC before 5th or TD after 6th). Instead he fought for 9+ round with a cut.
2) He turned on the bicycle mode in the last couple of rounds (i think nobody can blame him for that), but he took those rounds pretty clearly, in my mind.
3) HE clearly won rounds 1,6,11,12 and i need to have another look at the fight to remember what other rounds did he win, Anyway, give him at least 6 rounds and you get 114-113 win for him.
4) 7th and 8th were really good rounds for Clottey, but after them he really slowed down (maybe got over confident). And that`s a problem... in remaining 4 rounds he didn`t manage to do anything to his bleeding rival...
5) Don`t even try to talk about Cotto low-blowing or throwing Clott on the ground. There is a difference between "accidental" and "intentional". Everybody deals somehow with fighters like Hop or Holyfield or Clottey head-butting all he time...
When there are two fighters in the ring... and they do approximately the same, but one is bleeding terribly, i think it is clear enough whose efforts should be appreciated more.
While Cotto had his blood pouring from his eyebrow into his eye, Clottey didn`t do enough to get a unanimous win!
Was the fight close? Yes, it was! Did Clottey do enough? No he didn`t! The scores could go either way, and i think the two of them went the right way (should say that with a wrong amount).
Before calling me a Clottey hater take a look at my sig... You can still call me a "False boxing fan"
Thanks for conversation!
