Maybe there is More to It
admittedly, I am a Floyd fan and at times I can agree with some opposing views of him or his actions, but sometimes yall just be talking out yall asses or don't understand the game. People was getting mad at him for fight JMM after almost 2years off...tell Cotto or Pac to go away for almost 2years and then fight a top of the line fighter, see there at? Cotto looks that after just losing Marg, let alone being off for some months. Or Pac go do some movies 2years then come back, Roach would have a heart-attack. Only Floyd right now can do that and come back be right where he left off. He could of taken a tune-up fight (though JMM fight ended up that way), but who knew. (ok I sort of knew, but still) JMM was one of hottest at the moment and Ranked number 2 p4p at the time, so if you cant get number 1, then take 2 thats how I looked at it.
Now with him fighting these Alvarez, I do think he could fight better opposition or a bigger name opposition I actually never heard of this Alvarez. The thing is if they did fight maybe it would be on regular HBO, or maybe he just trying not to be idle for too long cuz remember after Cotto-Pac fight they are gonna have to recover few months before they can fight again, so this Alvarez fight might just be to knock some more rust off and little more Publicity. Honestly, I too would rather see him someone else and if they did fight it would probably be like a 80-20 split, lol.

Cotto or Pac wouldn't be so pussified to quit in their prime while great matchups can be made.
Floyd did,
and came back to fight a 2 fight lightweight.
Floyd the self proclaimed best ever,
came back to fight a 2 fight lightweight.
In comparison to Sugar Ray Leonard, who had real health problems, who came back after 3 years to move up, and face the middleweight champion of the world, Marvin Hagler.
Just to keep things in perspective.

Why is it easy for Pacquiao to fight Cotto and even Mosley even though he was at 130 pounds last year while Mayweather who stayed at 147 since 2006 never fought guys like Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Williams and Clottey.
Mayweather is completely a Gay and a chicken.

You "hurt" the sport by taking opportunities away from other people. You are spectacularly aggrandizing the issue.
He was at home for two years. Pretend he doesn't exist.
