The PPV buys for the Munguia fight were only 500K, not terrible for anyone NOT named Canelo. I can't wait to see what the numbers will be for this farce.

All you guys are hyping up Canelo as though he were a super-human beast forking lighting out of his eyes and catching crap for "cherry picking" undefeated champions and future hall of famers. Well it looks as though he heard you and is now going to cherry pick genuine cherry picks and continue pocketing loads of money. You gotta love the irony of this

Jamie Munguia was a more of a live dog than Bumlanga.

Bumlanga is more of a dead dog.

Canelo literally taking a step backwards!

It was easy marketing for Top Rank.

Actually, they would be stoopid not to run with the, “16 - 0 with 16 KOs in the 1st rd!”

How can you not market that to the masses?

I use to really admire and hold Canelo to a really high standard. Canelo opponent selection with Ryder, Charlo and now Berlanga is absolutely terrible. Canelo has lost me as a fan.

I'll be surprised if Bitey Berlanga makes it out of the fifth round. He's no competition for a fighter like Canelo. There's nothing that Biting Berlanga does even half as good as Canelo. I'm not a Canelo fan either , but the truth is the truth. He's an excellent fighter and Eat-U Edgar is not.

Mostly welters and junior welters, so I can’t say this guy is the worst, but as far as name recognition he may be the worst.
I'll say it for you , this guy is the worst.

“Mexican Independence [Day weekend] is a boxing tradition," Jonas said. "The UFC can still sell out its arena, but anyone coming to buy tickets for Canelo was not going to be buying tickets for the UFC. No one’s knocking the UFC, but boxing’s fan base will stick to its tradition. … This is like challenging tennis in New York on Labor Day or the Masters in April. You’re talking about tradition here.”

No you're not. You will not always stick with tradition if the fight is a complete farce. With that mindset, it shows whose calling the shots on who faces who. They're like the stock holders talking and saying, we don't care if we make a movie that nobody is interested to see or a video game nobody wants to play. As long as we throw fancy graphics at it or big special effects, they'll come. Forget about how shallow it is or boring.

Some of these managers/promoters need a real rude awakening, but until fans vote with their wallets, it won't happen and they'll continue to take advantage. I think Canelo has already been taking advantage of his fans for quite some time now. With the exception of Munguia who we didn't think would win, but put on a fun fight, he hasn't faced opponents people have been clamoring for. Heck, nobody was even calling for the Munguia fight when it happened, but just excepted it as a pretty decent fan friendly fight. It can't always be like that.
