Comments Thread For: Andy Ruiz Jr invites David Benavidez to the heavyweight division

Benavidez, 29-0 (24 KOs), has been calling for a fight with Canelo Alvarez for what seems like an eternity but is yet to secure an encounter with the Mexican great. Benavidez recently moved up to light-heavyweight to face Oleksandr Gvozdyk but with him currently pondering whether to stay or move back down to super middleweight, a jump to heavyweight would appear preposterous.

Benavidez should invite Andy to Super Middleweight. Ruiz's cardiovascular system would welcome it....

Benavidez himself has said someday he would go to heavyweight . I don’t know why he didn’t try from the beginning of his career. He has the frame as Ruiz points out .And the money is far superior . But I think it is too late now.

I guess it's not impossible, James Toney had some success at HW and he was 5'6" 277lbs.

Why is that Robb ? Sam Langford was 5 61/2,James Toney 5 9,Roy Jones 5 11,Benavidez is 6 1and a half.Langford started as a Welterweight, Toney a Middleweight, Roy a Supermiddleweight. With today's strength and conditioning and today's "supplements " I see no reason it couldn't reasonably happen. So please explain yourself if you care to.
