  • The impressive thing about Ennis beating Ava...

Is that he threw caution to the wind and still beat him up. Boots approached Ava last night in a way that gave Avanesyan the best chance to upset him and Ava still didn't have much for him.

Now don't get me wrong, this was not an impressive display of skill by Ennis, which is why so many people are saying he got hit too much. But he showed that he can pretty much impose his size and offensive repertoire without much regard to what was coming back at him and still get the job done. That's the ONLY thing some fighters can do.

All in all I would've said this performance should help Boots get all the smoke at 147lbs (before trying his luck at 154lbs) but I'm afraid boxers know he's not always going to fight them like that and that he's skilled enough to fight a more defensively responsible fight.

Maybe he throws caution to the wind because he has to to get knockouts. I can't remember when i saw him methodically breaking someone down and being defensively responsible to get the stoppage.

It is ok with me. It is not great for longevity but it's exciting.

This is not a 35+ year old fighter who's worried about how many he fights he has left. Which opponent did he need to be very methodical and defensive in how he approached them? No opponent has made him question his offensive identity yet. I think Norman or Stanionis could do that.

Sure. I don't dispute that. I was pointing out that the ts made an assumption that he can change his style with better fighters.. I am not so sure.

I would love to see him fight Stanionis next. My guess is though Crowley will get it because he will get cleared.

I think he's capable of being more of a boxer-puncher, and less of a pressure fighter. Ennis has the power/speed/reach/reflexes to stick-and-move and counter-punch, but his current mindset is that of a destroyer. As he gets older and fighters start offering greater resistance, that mindset will start to change.

More like an educated guess based on observation. You threw in an assumption yourself Maybe he throws caution to the wind because he has to to get knockouts. However, with topics like these, it's absolutely useless to start a back and forth. You have your views and I have mine, all I want is to see the best fight the best. However, I do take issue when fans take the position of downplaying an obviously talented fighter that could threaten one of their guys to minimize their threats and defend certain fights not happening.

Anyone thinks Stanionis, Gorman, Vergil, Bud, etc. Beat Boots? I honestly don't care who wins any of those match ups, I just say let's see them fights made! Just don't start saying these guys shouldn't fight Boots(not directed at you specifically jreckoning just speaking in general)

ava is a 35 year old journey man who took the fight on 2 weeks notice. so boots took some risks to get the stoppage. actually bivol did the same thing last fight too with an overmatched opponent, got hit more than usual took more risk he really wanted the stoppage.
