  • Comments Thread For: Lawrence Okolie likely to face Kevin Lerena, but could land big heavyweight name

Lawrence Okolie will likely defend his WBC bridgerweight title against South Africa's Kevin Lerena next, but his trainer Joe Gallagher is hopeful the lure of another title might tempt some of boxing's big men - like Deontay Wilder - into a big fight for his charge.

Bridgerweight is an absolute farce. Alen Babic fought for that “world title” and has just been destroyed in 30 seconds by the BBBofC Southern Area Champion.

The report is not accurate as Tischenko was stripped months ago of his WBA title after testing positive for banned substances. There is since a new champion in the name of Gadgimagomedov

I like Kevin Lerena. He looks like one of those tricky southpaws who could become the next Obed Sullivan, Monte Barrett, Jerry Forrest, Kevin Johnson, Jason Gavern, Nicolai Firtha type journeyman gatekeeper the division needs to separate the contenders from pretenders.

Ah, bridgerweight....the land of fat cruiserweights and mediocre heavyweights designed to collect sanctioning fees.

Big up to Boxrec for not recognizing Bridgerweight!

Lerena had Dubois on the ropes early. It might not be a cakewalk for Okolie.

Dubois was 3 times on the floor in the first round.
