Comments Thread For: Arum lights up ESPN for leaning on Foster-Conceicao CompuBox figures

Amid the widespread outrage over Brazil's Robson Conceicao receiving a WBC super-featherweight title split-decision victory over O'Shaquie Foster Saturday night in New Jersey, fight promoter Bob Arum said the heated reactions were stirred up unnecessarily by ESPN's over-reliance on CompuBox punch stats.

Bob Arum acting like he cares again. Bobby this wouldn’t happened to Foster if you decided not giving a fourth title opportunity to your Top Rank turnstile Robson Conceicao. Glad it backfired

Both things can be true; that compubox is dodgy and debatable, but actually, seeing a fight on TV shows you more than sitting at ringside.

I sat with the photographers for fights at emperor's palace in Johannesburg. I can tell you, for all the fights, there are times where you cannot see if the punches are landing cleanly or not.

That happens when the action is at the opposite side of the ropes of where you are sitting, or in the far corners. TV viewing is better, you see basically everything.

This is true of boxing, mma, football and rugby, at the venue you don't see everything.

Hey Bradley…this decision was no less an injustice than the gift you received from the first Pacquiao fight, which to this day you still claim you won 8-4 .

You and Robson now have something in common: delusion and ineffective aggression!

I've been to a lot of fights , and I've seen many more on television. What Bob is saying about having to be there to see the action is nonsense. Even sitting in the first few rows , you see much better on television. You get to see more angles , overhead shots , replays , slow motion and the ropes /referee aren't in the way. I go to fights for the atmosphere , but if I really want to pay attention tv is better.

Make this right and give Foster an immediate rematch. I'll bring my pillow.

                    Damn.

I’ve seen stitch ups galore in boxing, the noble sport of kings that is run today by knaves.

But this is the first time I’ve heard that CompuBox isn’t even at ringside. So it’s essentially just a guy watching TV, counting and then pretending to be authoritative? Just like I do at home? Lol!

                    Even by the normally low
standards of boxing, that takes some serious ****ing cheek.
