Comments Thread For: Jaron Ennis: 'Nobody Calls Me Out at 147 Pounds - I'll Fight Anybody'

Jaron Ennis will defend his title for the first time against David Avanesyan on July 13 in a Philadelphia homecoming, but he has loftier ambitions he's burning to fulfill: "I know I can beat anybody they put in front of me."

Dead division now tbh. So many divisions are.

This is the long term effect of the "protect your 0 at all costs" Floyd/Haymon/American boxing type bulls hit we have had to deal with foe years. Also promo wars.

No stars getting created, so many careers on hold. Contributing factor is the retirements of Floys/Manny/GGG/Cotto all around the same time.

Saudi take over can't come quick enough

Think the middleweight division might be the most dead of them all right now. That fight between Carlos Adames-Terrel Guasha on the tank undercard was probably one of the worsf WBC middleweight title fights you'll see in terms of quality and you got a 41 year old Erislandy Lara as champion and Janibek who is not really fighting anyone of note with two of the world titles

Has nobody to blame but himself. Left the wbo when Bud was making nothing but mandatory and voluntary defenses. Never asked to fight Spence and ducked Buds offer 2 years ago

He never called anyone else out either. I remember him saying he'd fight "anyone" but left it at that.

Blair Cobbs called you out in your face and you just ignored him. He may not be a name and may not be competitive, but at least you get to stay active, instead of just sitting on your ass waiting for nothing. Conor Benn also called you out. Mario Barrios called you out in front of the whole world. Even grandpa Robert Guerrero called you out. T. Crawford started at 135, but went on to fight undefeated Kavaliauskas at 147. Where were you at that time? Your 25th fight is a guy named Bakhtiyar Eyubov who don't even have a wiki page.

It's an awful look to have two glamour divisions almost totally dead. Welter and Middle are F UCKED.

Canelo killed middle really by camping on belts.

Boxing is in a pretty bad state right now. But hopefully the Saudis will stitch everything back together. Stars will come naturally when competitive match ups become the norm.

Ennis passes the eye test for sure. I do believe that no one with a name wants to fight him without a payday worth the risk , except Tim Tszyu , that dude will fight anyone. If I were advising him I'd put out a press release with all of the big names offering to fight from 147 to 160. Take on any name in whichever weight class answers the call. If no one does , punk em out. With his size he can fight at 47, 54, or 60. If that doesn't get a big name in the ring , go on a "Bum of the month tour" like Joe Louis did.

Floyd, Teo, Bud, Spence, Ali, Foreman, Hopkins, Roy, Toney, Zab, Wilder, Hagler, Bradley, and almost all everyone was/is full of themselves.
What exactly is Boots saying that none of those guys said?
