Heather Hardy isn't bitter. She has every right to be, but she's not. Let's get that out of the way. But the summer of 2024 looks a lot different for Hardy than the summer of 2023 did. Last year, Hardy was getting the big fight she craved, an August rematch with Amanda Serrano for the undisputed featherweight title at American Airlines Center in Dallas. It wasn't Hardy's official goodbye, but most assumed it was in terms of getting another title if she didn't get the job done in Texas.

Best of luck to her, glad she stopped rather than pushed on and risked debilitating or fatal injury. She was definitely an all action warrior

Here's sincerely hoping a surgical procedure can be identified to restore Heather's vision.

It's good that she recognised that problem and didn't continue because if she'd of took that bare knuckle fight or even just continued sparring for it then she could of ended up in a real bad way. Someone like her who's been in combat sport for like 15 years tho could definitely work in the gyms and help other women with there careers. Good luck to her

Damn, my boys box. I couldn't even get through half the article, it made my stomach turn. Best of luck to Heather! The medical industry is making break throughs everyday with treatments and therapies for various ailments. I pray these Dr.'s and Scientist find treatments for pugilistic brain damage.

Heather deserved better than this. Guard rails are supposed to be in place to establish protocols to protect boxers (even from their own bravery). One has to question, yet again, the role of State Athletic Commissions. In Heather’s case for instance, it’s reasonable to wonder how the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) didn’t step in earlier to prevent Heather’s deterioration. After all, the defined role of the NYSAC is to ensure the health and safety of the participants. New York sanctioned 26 out of Heather’s 28 professional fights, and the NYSAC was optimally situated to establish medical baselines to diagnose and prevent Heather’s debilitating injuries.
