To give an example as to why. I personally feel if Floyd moved up to a catch weight between 160-168, and faced a Mikkel Kessler or Jermain Taylor...I would give him no chance of winning. As a matter of fact I would be surprise if he didn't win a round and got knocked out in the process.

I just brought that up, because that is how I viewed marquez moving up and losing the way he did.
losing to floyd does nothing to jmm's career... floyd was too big for jmm... that is all there is to it.

i don't mean to change subject, but i really know if the jump hurt marquez carrer in the sense he won't go back to 135 and fight/dominate the division because of the money oppotunites that are at 140+?

But, now that does not seem likely since. Pac won't gain anything from a 3rd fight with JMM.

Now in the long run it won't hurt and very good chance it would benefit his legacy. He will be looked like a great fighter who dared to be great. Who took a high risk. And, a warrior who was out of his weightclass challenging maybe the best of his era. And, lasting the distance. When we look back at JMM. We will say he was the best out of the 3 musketeers (Barrera, Morales). Argubly an ATG. And, maybe top 5 greatest Mexican of all time. He would get the same respect that Duran got for losing to Hagler. Even though Duran did a better job than JMM. But, it will be very respected.
Actually I think the triology will be next because I don't see Pac getting past Cotto regardless of what people say. If pac loses, then that is the only fight I see for him that makes sense.

I hate it when people talk crazy. So now Floyd fighting JMM is the same as Floyd fighting Kessler? Even though JMM started his career at FW while Floyd started at SFW. Even though JMM fought most of his career at FW and Floyd at SFW. Floyd was only big by name until he came back from retirment. Just look at the facts. Go look at his weights. Every weight he has been in since SFW he has been by far the smallest guy in the division. At LW he came into the ring at 138-139, at SLW he came into the ring at 143-144, at WW he came in the ring at 146-148 until the JMM fight. Dont say things without facts. He looked like a boy compared to Baldy when he was 146 and Baldy was 165. At that same time Pac was down at SFW coming into the ring at 147. He was coming into the ring weighing the same as Floyd but Floyd was fighting a guy weighing 165 and Pac was beating up on a shot EM that he made look like a boy. Dont bring up crazy comparisons.

Even the biggest haters admitted before the JMM fight that in the past Floyd was way small compared to Cotto, Mosley, Clottey & Margarito but now you are trying to say that its the same as Floyd fighting Kessler? Get real man. Dude had 1 fight at 154 and came into the ring at 152 pounds, the same he did against JMM. In every other WW fight he was 147. Stop trying to play him like he was this massive dude fighting little innoncent JMM. Even outside the ring all the reporters will tell you that he walks around at 150-153 while Kessler and those guys go up to 200 pounds on occasion. Stop talking crazy man

That loss did nothing to diminish JMM, and the win means nothing for PBF. JMM gained nothing but respect and a huge payday for that debacle.

                  In my view... nothing
he had nothing to lose but everything to gain that fight
hes done so much..marquez is such an underrated fighter
he fought in an unfamiliar territory and went the distance with the most skilled boxer alive
that itself should be a big statement already

As much it hurt Ali's career to lose to Larry Holmes.
