Comments Thread For: David Benavidez Chooses to Remain Mandatory for Canelo Alvarez

The funniest thing about all this is hearing the canelo fans ***** and moan about David needing to go to 175. Newsflash,he's been fighting at 168 since 2016 at the very least. When he lost his WBC belt on the scales in 2020 canelo swooped in and won the vacant belt against Callum smith. Now David wants HIS belt back,a belt that nobody ever beat him for, suddenly he needs to go through hoops and fight light heavies that canelo couldn't even beat? Only reason canelo fans are crying for David to leave the division is so the ginger can keep fighting no hoppers. -
All of those "weak group of champions" were there for Benavidez to fight and unify with and he didn't One of those champions is the best name of Benavidez's record. Benavidez was fighting champions and Benavidez Angulo, J Leon Love and Kyrone Davis. If Canelo's opponents are low level what are David's? Be a fan of the sport and not just a hater your whole life

It's a good move for him, now he can continue his why not me campaign, and make money off of it. Truth be told, he needs to fight DM, that will sell, he will make money.
THEN, he will deserve a Canelo fight, in the meantime, he doesn't have to fight the real lions in Bivol and AB, and can still carry that "Monster" moniker.Leave a comment:

Wtf is a bogey monster? Lmaooo. You Canelo fans have no shame. Canelo has the most pathetic list of title defenses since becoming undisputed against a fairly weak group of champions. The only ducking going on is with canelo. Benavidez has made himself the clear top option for canelo in terms of being the most credible boxer he can face and the one that will make him the most money. So why is he running from the fight ? The answer is simple, he’s scared to take the risk. He’d prefer to fool his cult fan base with low level opponents, and people with no integrity as boxing fans such as yourself will defend it.Last edited by ImDominicanLipz; 06-18-2024, 08:00 PM.Leave a comment:

He's only fought one guy?? An elite tough guy at that... People bring up Gvozdyk's age but you can see he is still fighting at a high level and would probably get by guys like Callum Smith and Buatsi without much trouble. Gvozdyk is a tough MF with a solid chin - don't forget he walked through one of the P4P hardest punchers at the time Stevenson's southpaw left over and over again and wasn't budged.
Benavidez beat him through work-rate (albeit at a lesser rate than at 168lbs), and this is the very attribute which will give Canelo major problems in whatever division they choose to fight in.Leave a comment:

I’m not a canelo fan I don’t think he’s that great. I respect his career tho. He has the best resume in the sport despite some opportunistic bouts. I watched bumavidez since he was 17 and he’s always been severely overated by his dumba$$ fans. Before the gvodzyk fight he went on and on about forging his own path making his own name in the sport and not chasing canelo anymore and moving up win a belt at LHW and force a showdown. Then washed up 40 year gvodzyk who’s been garbage since his return gives him a tough fight and he immediately changes his tune. Right back to begging canelo. Dude would get wiped out by bivol or beterbiev and a couple others at 175 and he won’t go near morrel Jr at 168. Str8 up fraud.

If the canelo fight doesn't happen he should go after Bivol/Betterbieve winner.
Bivol isnt nearly as big and powerful as Gvozdyk and like Gvozdyk Benavidez already put a beating on Bivol in sparring. Betterbieve would be just as big and strong as Gvozdyk but he's old his days are numbered. Benavidez would steam roll him.Last edited by Spartacus26; 06-18-2024, 11:22 AM.Leave a comment:
