Then again I never thought much of Spence and could see it in fights where James became just a yes man
Even when he won trainer of the year and AJ etc etc jumped on the bandwagon I thought that was a terrible choice for trainer of the year and
II think the boxing community gave him that title because he had three big wins
I just really believe he has a one mind track and thinks that his way is the only way
Need look no further than Bud vs Spence
He had no answers and if not mistaken actually thought Spence was winning at one point lol
I can see where you stand that's cool I was answering your post but generalizing on the thread I do it a lot and they think Im shooting at them lol , Im neutral on this sort of stuff and don't like or dislike anyone I don't know, the whole world is all about opinions on everybody else, sheese I got enough going on in my world let alone getting invested in other peoples issues. All good.

      Lol
Like you mentioned in another thread that you analyze and then make your own opinion about fighters
I’m doing the same about the trainer and yes I don’t know him and don’t hate him but I believe that he trains his fighters one way without any side doors to escape if it doesn't work , he’s kind of like a one trick pony in my eyes
I used to really admire Freddy Roach but he’s another trainer that his fighters know how to win only one way ; power
No B or C plan and not much defence shown from those guys
Not sure if this makes sense to you or not but yeah , I don’t think he’s that great of a trainer

Heck No, if he still wants to retire due personal reasons that is up to him, but a temporary bad run shouldn't be the reason why he should retire, he is probably of the few in this era that actually knows what to advice his fighters in the ring.

However that said, he recently admitted in late 2023 that he didn't want to take any new fighters after Frank Martin, but Ryan Garcia's offer was just too lucrative to avoid.

          This is ****** as hell.

Frank Martin was winning rounds until the naturally more talented and experienced fighter took over and won. In any case, it was not a blowout to say that better coaching was suddenly going to make Frank Martin whoop Tanks ass.

As far as Spence and Charlo.... coaching is NOT the problem. The coach, as far as I know, does not control them 24/7. Their problems are all self induced from being more interested in partying, drinking and drugs rather than boxing.

Derrick James is a good enough trainer and did quite well with Ryan who whooped Devin's ass.

He just got a big win this past weekend when his fighter Kyrone Davis beat undefeated prospect Elijah Garcia.
