But does that excuse Roach (arguably one of the most overrated trainers of all time) winning all these accolades while Roger rarely gets mentioned, and even more insultingly, has never won the trainer of the year award?

Roach's claim to fame is picking up a fighter who already had most of the tools he has today then catching his punches and making sure he's in the shot whenever he's on camera. Roger on the other hand almost single handedly molded a young Floyd into the greatest fighter of a generation. He has no losses on his record and without Roger's tutelage he wouldnt have been able to develop into the fighter he is today.

So with that in mind, am i the only one who thinks it's a travesty that Roger hasnt won the trainer of the year award? I understand he likes to speak his mind and can be controversial at times, but as far as trainers go, the guy's a living legend. I'm suprised noone's tried to boycott the Boxing Writers Association of America yet.
roger is only good for pad work...

he has no strategy, no gameplan, he doesn't study tapes like roach does... nothing.

First 1.5 yrs as a pro, won a world title - without a title eliminator or interim title ... and in his first 17 or 18 fights

+ 10 consecutive years as a world champion

+ 5-WBC titles in as many weight classes

+ 6-time world champion, in his first 10 yrs as pro

+ All championships he won were off of reigning champions - no vacant titles -

      + He was a challenger in a fight 6 times and has a 6-0 2KO

      + 15 current/former world champions faced

      23-title fights (23-0 record)

      3 linear titles

all this happened during a streak of 39 straight victories and within the first 10 yrs of his professional career.

No one in the history of boxing has accomplished that without havinng taken a loss or more

He's only 1 championship away from tying the record held by Sugar Ray Robinson and thats winning 7 world champions ...

He's currently tied with Sugar Ray Leonard with legitimized championship in 5 different weight classes.

I'm not saying you have to like the man but he's one of the best of all-time ...

It also has been confirmed that (not including linear titles) Pacquiao has won titles in only 4 weight classes (with as many alphabet titles) and Oscar didn't have many legitimized titles ...

lol, this **** forgot to log into his horus account.

I think you got this in reverse. Floyd hasn't changed his style from when he was trained by his father, while Manny has constantly improved with Roach. We already know that Floyd figures the fighters out in the ring, devises his own strategies and adjust to his opponents all during a fight because Roger doesn't watch tape and don't care much for fight plans. Roach on the other hand plans according to what he sees on tape and Manny follows it to a T.

Floyd don't need Roger but Manny is dependent on Roach.

That pad work did wonders for Hatton against Pac.

I think its better to say that Roach will help Manny a lot. He can learn a lot from Roach.

I think it's criminal that this criminal hasn't been put away regardless of his skills as a fighter or as a trainer lol
Floyd doesn't even need him, his fights are won mostly because of his natural athletic ability anyways lol
