Jesus we might be twins Daze because I was thinking the same exact thing.
Roger is good at what he does and and I am not talking just FMJ. He has made the most with a limited Cornelius Lock, Wes Ferguson, and now Jesse Vargas.

I can partially understand why that's the case when Roach is an attention whore who forces himself into the limelight telling every excruciating detail of how Manny's training is going to anyone who will listen, while Roger plays the background role like a trainer should.
But does that excuse Roach (arguably one of the most overrated trainers of all time) winning all these accolades while Roger rarely gets mentioned, and even more insultingly, has never won the trainer of the year award?
Roach's claim to fame is picking up a fighter who already had most of the tools he has today then catching his punches and making sure he's in the shot whenever he's on camera. Roger on the other hand almost single handedly molded a young Floyd into the greatest fighter of a generation. He has no losses on his record and without Roger's tutelage he wouldnt have been able to develop into the fighter he is today.
So with that in mind, am i the only one who thinks it's a travesty that Roger hasnt won the trainer of the year award? I understand he likes to speak his mind and can be controversial at times, but as far as trainers go, the guy's a living legend. I'm suprised noone's tried to boycott the Boxing Writers Association of America yet.

Lock went from a **** fighter to upsetter extraordinaire just by the change in corners. Juanito Garcia, Speedy Gonzalez and now the Cruz kid GBP JUST signed.
Uncle Rog's advice is second to none and as dumb as he may perceived to be......not one single trainer has outgame planned him to this date
JLC's trainer came the closest but I liken it to the SRL Duran series where SRL fought the wrong fight and let it be close than it should have been which he remedied in the rematch
same thing IMO

Agreed on all your other points. It really is a shame how Roger goes unnoticed. He has my full respect.
"Keep backing him up! You had the b*tch ready to quit then!"

and one more point about Lock
his last 4 opponents are a combined
77-3-1 at the time they fought Lock
Lock is 3-1 with 3 KOs against those 4. Impressive
he is miles better than Floyd Sr and HE not Sr should be given credit for Floyd Jr

Dude you are an idiot!
Rog took over a polished fighter. Floyd is who he is because he is that talented and because of how his father trained him. If you ask me Rog is the one that has him fighting defensive cause he remembers getting his az lit up by Chavez and doesnt want his nephew to go through the same thing.
Roger is a good trainer but compare to what Freddie Roach has done with Pac????Really???
Pac was one demensional when Freddie put in all that work and now he is far from one demensional. If Floyd were to be this beast and start knocking fools out because of how his uncle rog was training him then you would have a case.
At this point in his career Floyd pretty much trains himself. He is is just being generous and letting his Uncle collect a check and hold the mits.
