    Yeah that's a shame. Would of much rather of seen Inoue against Akhmadaliev at Wembley then against Doheny in Japan who's nearly 40.. but it seems all involved is happy with the financial benefit of staying in Japan but even if that's the case okay cool but Akhmadaliev was still the fight to make regardless if it's Japan or England.

      Terrible decision and completely out of character for Inoue to this point in his career. Akhmadaliev is a much, much more credible challenger than this version of Doheny.

        Didn't MJ lose to Tapales, who Inueo easily stopped. Is not really motivating to fight some one who lost to someone he destroyed.

          Can you explain why Doheny is a better option? I like Doheny and I know he’s fought in Japan a few times, but in no way , shape , or form is it a better fight at this point

            Doheny has lost to Sam Goodman, Michael Conlan, Ionut Baluta, and Danny Roman.

              it's terrible if it's doheny. there are two mandatories (murodjon and sam goodman) and casimero (3 division champion). there is nick ball for a fight in england. everything else is a waste of time which naoya doesn't have. i suspect this is because of arum. he hates hearn, even more after taylor - catterall 2.

                It's not about screwing Hearn, it's about money.

                Doheny is a villain in Japan, much like Nery. He won his world title in Japan against a Japanese fighter, then he defended it in the US against a Japanese fighter, and more recently he has fought his last 3 fights in Japan winning them all.

                Doheny is easily the worst option among himself, Akhmadaliev, Casimero, and Goodman as far as competition but as far as selling the fight in Japan it's no contest.

                  i know who doheny is. naoya already has enough money so i don't care about that part anymore. here's an atg who has a chance to build up his resume even more. that's what i care about and why i follow the sport. it's important for me that naoya keeps all the belts until junto - bam winner (a guaranteed hall of famer in his prime, the highest calibre opponent in anyone's career) challenge him.

                  keeping the belts = fighting mandatories
                  doheny = waste of time
                  simple.

                    I much prefer the MJ fight but Inoue has stated that he wants to fight 3 times this year. I understand why Doheny is an option, it a safer fight. Doheny is older, he beats him and goes on to fight Goodman in December. But it's a bad look because it was ordered.
